Dinny Hall’s Brightside Collection Brings Fearless Colour to Fine Jewellery

The London designer reimagines classic fine jewellery with clashing gemstones, off-centre settings and a very bright outlook.

There’s something irresistible about jewellery that refuses to play it safe. With her new Brightside collection, British designer Dinny Hall takes the familiar codes of fine jewellery, the eternity band, the solitaire and the drop earring, and gives them a joyful shake-up with colour, contrast and a sense of fun.

As the name suggests, the collection is built around the idea of always looking on the bright side. Each piece is crafted in solid 18k gold and set with precious gemstones in pink, blue, green, yellow and orange, arranged in combinations that feel deliberately unexpected.

Colour Blocking, the Fine Jewellery Way

What sets Brightside apart is how the stones are put together. French-cut and carré-cut gemstones sit side by side in offbeat pairings, with tones that clash in the best possible way and small surprises that only reveal themselves as the piece catches the light from different angles.

The effect has been likened to a game of Tetris, with each stone slotting into place in an unlikely harmony. It’s colour blocking translated into gold and gemstones, and it makes the collection feel modern without losing the craftsmanship fine jewellery is known for.

Dinny Hall describes it as a collection about “embracing colour and celebrating unexpected combinations”, explaining that the pieces are designed to look classic at first glance before revealing something more playful the longer you look. Her aim, she says, is to bring joy, individuality and confidence to whoever wears them.

Three Pieces at the Heart of the Collection

The Brightside Eternity Ring takes the traditional eternity band and turns it into a celebration of self-expression. Rather than a uniform line of matching stones, it features vibrant gemstone combinations that make each ring feel personal.

The Bit On The Side Ring lives up to its cheeky name. An oval gemstone sits deliberately off-centre, giving the ring a fresh, contemporary silhouette that subverts the classic centre-stone design.

The Brightside Drop Earrings pair a generous oval-cut gemstone with a huggie hoop set with contrasting coloured stones, all in solid 18k gold. Bold colour blocking meets everyday wearability, and the result is pure joy.

Made to Mix, Match and Keep

Brightside is designed to be worn your way. Each piece works beautifully on its own, but the collection really comes alive when stacked, layered and clashed. Rooted in tradition but full of personality, these are pieces made to be worn now and treasured for years to come, future heirlooms with an optimistic streak.

About Dinny Hall

Dinny Hall founded her eponymous brand in London in 1985 after graduating from Central Saint Martins. Her career got off to a remarkable start when Liberty bought her graduate collection, and that early success set the tone for a body of work that is bold yet effortlessly wearable.

Four decades on, Dinny Hall remains an independent, design-led brand with a loyal following across generations. Known for sculptural hoops, everyday T-bars, vivid natural gemstones and fine jewellery in solid 9k and 18k gold, the brand draws inspiration from art, fashion, architecture and the natural world. Its philosophy has always been that jewellery should be worn, loved and collected rather than saved for special occasions.

Today, Dinny Hall has boutiques across London, a concession in Liberty and an online store.
