Two Sisters On The Opposite Side Of The World, Turn Their Dream Into A Reality

Becca and Jess always dreamed of starting a business together so when Becca who lives in Australia had a new baby, Jess who lives in London went to visit and they got talking about their dream once again.

As they were walking by the ocean one day they asked themselves question: What is it that you love that is uniquely you? Becca thought about her home and studio and it sparked an idea! She had a random selection of metal lockers. One flaky old one found on the side of the road, a few from antique stores and some new. You see, she’s always had a thing for lockers!

From that day the work began. Researching, reading, drawing, dreaming, meetings, writing endless lists and seeking out a manufacturer that could bring their ideas to life. Becca and Jess flew round the world and met in China to learn as much as possible about creating their perfect products.

In 2018 they took a gamble. They booked a space at a trade show in Sydney and prepared for launch. Samples were made, photos were taken, branding was finalised and list after list got ticked off. The next big move was for Jess to quit her job and launch Mustard in the UK. It was a really big deal, they were now all-in. Thankfully, the UK couldn’t get enough of our lockers and pretty soon Mustard were selling lockers throughout Europe too!

In 2019 their range grew to include The Lowdown and The Midi bringing a whole lot of new possibilities! But they didn’t stop there, the colour range also grew to eight versatile colours giving even more options to mix and match.

Becca and Jess was able to then make another dream come true: they partenered with Beam to donate £5 from all UK orders. As a brand that sells products for the home, it made sense to donate to a cause that supports people without a home. Donating each month is one of their proudest achievements.

2020, during Covid, the rainbow of colours expanded to include the stunning Sage and the team kept on growing as well! Becca and Jess are thankful to work with lovely, creative and a kind team. They took the whole ‘family business’ thing to the next level and their partners came to work at Mustard too! Together they faced the challenges that 2020 brought.

After alot of delays during covid, they finally was able to launch their biggest locker: The Twinny.

When the lockers landed in USA, the home of the high school locker. They knew their dream had finally come true. All the endless hard work and pushing themselves to dream big had finally paid off.

Becca and Jess took a leap to start their dream and they are so glad they did. They’re still wrtiting the future and I’m sure they’ll do even more amazing things…….
