How to Create a Cosy Autumn Interior with the Mrs Hinch Collection

If, like me, you love decorating your home for autumn, there’s no better place to go than Home Bargains. You can dress your whole house from one shop, and at bargain prices too. The latest Mrs Hinch collection is perfect for it, with pieces for every room in the house.

So here’s my step-by-step guide to creating a cosy autumn interior using the range, room by room and layer by layer.

Step 1: Choose a warm, calm palette

Cosy starts with colour, and the secret is restraint. Skip the shouty orange and go for creams, oatmeal, soft greys and natural wicker, with pumpkins and leaves as shapes rather than loud colour. That’s exactly where the Mrs Hinch range sits.

A calm palette means your autumn pieces work with your existing furniture rather than fighting it. It also means nothing looks dated on 1 November, so you can leave it all out until the Christmas decorations go up.

Step 2: Layer texture in the living room

If you buy one thing, make it the Faux Fur Throw at £19.99. A throw does more for a sofa in October than any ornament, because it changes how the room feels as well as how it looks. Don’t fold it into a neat square. Drape it loosely over one arm so it looks used, not staged.

Then add the Fall Leaves Cushion at £12.99, but only one. A single patterned cushion against plain ones reads as a deliberate accent. A whole row of them reads as a theme night.

The trick is contrast. Faux fur next to a flat-weave cushion and a wicker basket gives you three textures in one corner, and that’s what makes a room feel layered rather than decorated. Add the Hinch Wicker basket at £7.99 which is perfect beside the sofa for spare blankets, and it earns its place long after autumn ends.

Step 3: Style a vignette and add soft light

This is where seasonal décor usually goes wrong. Ten small things spread across every surface look like clutter. The same ten grouped on one mantel or console table look curated.

My rule is odds and heights. Group in threes or fives, and vary how tall things are so the eye moves across the arrangement. A Fall Bouquet at £4.99 in a jug gives you height at the back. The Wicker Pumpkin at £4.99 sits in the middle, and a scattering of the Wicker Mushrooms & Acorns at £2.99 brings it down to the front.

Finish with light. The Set of 3 Mini Votives at £5.99 tucked between them adds a warm glow that photographs beautifully. For a fireplace, the Fall Garland at £7.99 draped along the front ties the whole thing together.

Step 4: Give the front door a seasonal welcome

We spend so much time styling inside that we forget the entrance is the first room anyone sees. It’s also the easiest win, especially if you rent, because none of this touches a wall.

The Fall Wreath at £9.99 goes on an over-door hook, so there’s no drilling. Pair it with the Flocked Coir Door Mat at £4.99, and if you have a porch or a bracket outside, add the Fall Hanging Basket at £12.99. Three pieces, under £28, and your house looks ready for the season before you’ve even stepped inside.

Step 5: Finish with scent

Interior designers talk a lot about colour and texture, but scent is the thing people remember about your home. The new Hinch Home fragrances lean into exactly the feeling autumn styling is chasing. The four reed diffusers are £4.99 each: Velvet Hour, Duvet Day, After Dark and Sunday Reset. Duvet Day, After Dark and Sunday Reset also come as small candles at £3.99.

I’d zone them. Put a diffuser in the hallway so the house smells welcoming the moment the door opens. Then keep the candle for the room you actually relax in, and light it in the evening when you want the mood to shift. Duvet Day in the bedroom and After Dark in the living room feel like natural fits.

Step 6: Make small swaps in the kitchen and bathroom

You don’t need to restyle every room. In kitchens and bathrooms, a few swaps of things you already use every day do the job, and most of these are £2.99.

In the bathroom, the Fall Soap Dispenser, a Hand Towel and the Pumpkin Bath Mat at £4.99 give the whole room a seasonal refresh for under £11. In the kitchen, the Fall Pumpkin Mug and Pumpkin Shaped Placemats do the same for the table. And the Hinching/Resting Mug is pure fun, and the one I suspect will sell out first.

Swap them in for October and November, then pack them away with the wreath. Next year they’ll feel new again.

My three must-haves

If you only grab a few things, these are the ones I’d put in my basket:

  1. The Faux Fur Throw (£19.99). It changes how a room feels, not just how it looks.
  2. A Wicker Basket (£7.99). It does the autumn look now and stays useful all year.
  3. The After Dark diffuser (£4.99). It brings the Hinch ethos into the house without a single ornament.

The best seasonal styling is the kind that feels effortless, and this range makes it very easy to get there without spending much. Just remember: edit, group, and leave some space. Your home should feel cosy, not crowded.

Where to buy

The Hinch Home collection is available in Home Bargains stores across the UK and online at home.bargains. Stock varies by store, and seasonal Hinch ranges have a habit of selling out quickly, so it’s worth checking early.

Prices and availability taken from the Home Bargains website on 5 October 2026 and may change. Anne Louise Magazine has no commercial relationship with Home Bargains or Mrs Hinch.
