Moonlit forests, hand-gilded pillars and a calendar full of Cornish sea stories: St Eval’s 2026 Christmas collection is less a candle range than a winter’s tale you can light.
From its clifftop home in North Cornwall, St Eval has spent more than three decades turning the landscape around it into scent. This year’s Christmas Candle Collection, made in Cornwall with a blend of traditional craft and modern methods, is built around the brand’s much-loved folklore illustrations: hand-drawn woodland scenes, enchanted paths and snow-dusted landscapes that wrap its tins, tealights and gift boxes.
The invitation, as St Eval puts it, is to bring the magic in. With five festive fragrances, gold-dipped pillars and a 24-door advent calendar, there’s no shortage of ways to do it.
Five scents of the season
Each fragrance sets a different winter mood. Sacred Forest is the quiet one, all evergreen and twinkling sap with what St Eval calls “a dash of magic”. Inspiritus is warmer and livelier, blending musk, spice and orange, while Winter Thyme brings fresh greenery and herbs to the mix.
Orange & Cinnamon pairs juicy oranges with rich woody spice, and the brand suggests it works just as well beyond December. Then there’s Figgy Pudding, which goes full Christmas Day: clementines, brandy-soaked sponge and spice-laced air. Its story is suitably playful too, with two excited clementines bouncing in a stocking and a pudding set ablaze.

Sacred Forest is here to stay
Sacred Forest launched last year to mark St Eval’s 30th anniversary, and it has now earned a permanent place in the collection. For 2026 it also arrives in new formats, including gold half-dipped pillars, mini diffusers and mini fragranced candles. If it was the scent you couldn’t track down again last January, the hunt is over.
Gilded by hand
The Gold Half-Dipped Pillars are the collection’s showpiece. Each one is hand-poured, then individually dipped in shimmering gold and finished by hand to create its gilded edge. They’re £25 each, with a Gold Half-Dipped Multiwick at £40 for a bigger statement on the dining table or mantelpiece. The Gold Marbled Pillar (£25) reaches the same festive sparkle by a different route, with a dusting of gold over marbled wax.

Stone, glass and starlight
The Alchemy Pots return with an updated finish this year: rustic, stone-effect vessels with a golden glow, like frost catching firelight. They come in two sizes, small at £22 and large at £45, across four of the Christmas fragrances, which makes them as collectable as they are giftable.

For something that glows rather than gleams, the Christmas Votive Gift Set (£29.95) brings coloured glass scattered with constellations that light up from within. It’s a twilight sky in miniature, made for the longest nights of the year.

Small gifts, big glow
Some of the most charming pieces are the smallest. The Christmas scented tins (£15.50) are wrapped in hand-drawn woodland fairies, snow-dusted trees and enchanted paths, so they’re ready to give without a scrap of wrapping paper. The Christmas tealights (£10.80) carry the same artwork.

The Christmas Cottages (£12.95) are sweet gift-box houses, each holding scented tealights and a speckled, gold-rimmed holder. Collect a few and you have a candlelit village for the mantelpiece.

New to St Eval? The Christmas Tealight Discovery Set (£19.95) brings together four of the brand’s best-loved festive fragrances, and there’s a core-collection version for year-round scents too. The Christmas Mini Fragranced Cracker, meanwhile, is made for the table: each one holds a candle holder and four fragrances (Winter Thyme, Sacred Forest, Orange & Cinnamon and Inspiritus), so it doubles as a party favour.

Counting down to Christmas
The Tealight Advent Calendar (£50) hides a scented tealight behind each of its 24 doors, plus a gold-dusted holder. Its illustrations head for the coast, with a humpback whale beneath a moonlit sky, mermaids in the waves and a castle keeping watch, all inspired by St Eval’s North Cornish shoreline. That’s one small moment of magic a day, all through December.

Prefer a single flame? St Eval’s classic ivory Advent Candle (£7.50) marks the days the traditional way, while boxes of six mini fragranced candles (£5.55) make easy stocking fillers.
Made on the Cornish coast
St Eval began life in the Cornish countryside as the St Eval Candle Company. It’s now simply St Eval, a nod both to a range that has grown to include diffusers and bath and body products, and to the landscape that inspires it all. The brand is a certified B Corp and aims to build sustainability into every stage of the process, from how its products are made to its low-waste packaging.
Get the look: a candlelit Christmas table
- Run gold half-dipped pillars of different heights down the centre of the table, with sprigs of fir or eucalyptus laid well clear of the flames.
- Build a mantelpiece village from Christmas Cottages, adding a new house each week of December.
- Set a Mini Fragranced Cracker at each place setting as a favour guests can take home.
- Give each room its own scent so fragrances don’t compete: Orange & Cinnamon in the kitchen, Sacred Forest in the living room.
- Keep it safe: trim wicks before every burn, keep candles away from decorations and greenery, and never leave a flame unattended.
