I love candles and I love aromatherapy. So when Tyler Aromatherapy reached out and asked if I’d like to try one of their sets, I nearly screamed with delight.
And honestly? It delivered before I even got the packaging open.
No exaggeration – I could smell it before I opened the box. You know that feeling when you walk into a spa and the scent just hits you the moment you step through the door? That instant sense of calm, like your shoulders drop two inches without you even realising? That was me, standing in my hallway, holding a parcel.

Once I did open it, I found a gorgeous thank you card and a personal note from founders Ellie and Mark — a small touch, but one that tells you a lot about the kind of brand you’re dealing with. Everything was beautifully packaged. The tealights came in their own branded box, and the ceramic tealight holder was wrapped with real care.
The holder itself is a dream. Reactive glaze ceramics are having a huge moment right now — that organic, unpredictable finish that means no two pieces are ever identical — and this one is made by Studio Fourteen Pottery. Forest green, small and beautiful, it would work in any interior scheme. Mine went straight to my bedside table.

The scent is called The Wilderness, and it earns its name. Earthy, forest fresh, with a smoky wood note from a blend of cypress, sage, juniper, pink pepper and birch tar essential oils. If you’ve ever stood in a forest just after someone’s lit a fire nearby, you’ll know exactly what this smells like. It’s grounding and calming in a way that a floral or fruity candle just can’t touch.
The tealights are hand-poured in small batches in Monmouthshire, Wales, using natural soy wax and pure essential oils. No parabens, cruelty-free, vegan. The scent throw is strong without being overpowering — exactly what you want for an evening wind-down.
The Woman Behind the Brand
Ellie’s story is one of those that genuinely stops you in your tracks. She started her career as a midwife — and if anyone knows the human cost of burnout and anxiety, it’s someone who spent years caring for others in high-pressure environments while running on empty themselves.
It was during an aromatherapy course she completed as part of her midwifery role that the lightbulb moment came. She saw first hand how a few drops of essential oil could shift a mood, calm a room, soothe a soul. From there, Tyler Aromatherapy was born — in April 2021, in her workshop in the Wye Valley, mixing and pouring small batches by hand.
The brand isn’t just another candle company. Every scent is an in-house blend, which means you won’t find these combinations anywhere else. The commitment to sustainability is genuine — recycled and reusable jars, eco-friendly labels, soy wax for a clean burn. And in case you need any further reassurance, Tyler Aromatherapy is an award-winning brand, having been named Start-up Brand of the Year.
It’s a brand built from real experience, real knowledge, and a genuine belief that the small daily rituals — lighting a candle, taking a breath, carving out five minutes for yourself — actually matter. I couldn’t agree more.
The Wilderness Ceramic Tealight Holder and Tealights Set is £26 and genuinely makes the kind of gift you’d be thrilled to receive — or a treat for yourself that feels properly considered, not just another candle. Replacement scented tealights are available for £12.50 for a set of 10, which makes the whole thing lovely and sustainable long-term.
