GRAMMY Award-winning global superstar Nelly Furtado is back with her long-awaited new studio album, “7,” set to release on September 20 through Nelstar/21 Entertainment/Universal Music Canada/Republic Records/Casablanca Records/Polydor Records.

A Journey of Rediscovery

“7” marks Furtado’s most inspired and personal collection yet, culminating from four years of artistic rediscovery. After a hiatus focusing on motherhood, Furtado felt the irresistible pull back to music. “I started going out again and I kept hearing my music being played and remixed by DJs,” she shares. “At the same time, my eldest daughter was showing me how the online community, including a whole new audience of Gen Z fans, were discovering and embracing my music, 20 years later. I heard the calling!”

Over the past four years, Furtado penned 400 songs and collaborated with various artists, songwriters, musicians, and producers worldwide. “I found my voice again,” Furtado reflects. “I came to the studio lost and searching for my artistic identity. I had done a lot of reflection and self-work during my seven years outside of music, so I was bringing that growth into the studio with me.” She continues, “This collection of songs is so personal. It reflects my journey through heartbreak and finding my confidence as an artist again, into the pure joy and celebration you feel when you’re nurturing your passion and are part of a community.”

New Single “Corazón” feat. Bomba Estéreo

Furtado’s new single, “Corazón” featuring Bomba Estéreo, is one of the standout tracks from the album. Introduced to Bomba Estéreo’s Liliana Saumet by Canadian Colombian artist Lido Pimienta, Furtado traveled to Santa Marta, Colombia, to create music. In Colombia, surrounded by a community of fellow artist mothers, Furtado found her artistic voice. “Corazón,” co-produced by Furtado and T-Minus, is a global pop celebration with powerful vocal hooks, empowering lyrics in English and Spanish, and eclectic instrumentation.

Previous Release “Love Bites” feat. Tove Lo & SG Lewis

“Corazón” follows the release of “Love Bites,” featuring Tove Lo & SG Lewis. This pop anthem, debuted in an interview with Zane Lowe, has amassed over 13 million streams and garnered critical acclaim from major publications such as Billboard, Rolling Stone, and PAPER. The track has also been remixed by Don Diablo.

Rekindling Connections with Gen Z Fans

In the past year, Furtado has connected with a new generation of Gen Z fans. In 2023 alone, she racked up 1.5 billion streams, bringing her global streaming total to over 20 billion. Her RIAA 4x Platinum Certified single “Say It Right” recently entered the YouTube Billion Views Club.
