Rosie H. Sullivan Drops ‘Timeless’ – The Ultimate Single Before EP ‘In My Nature’ Release on Nov 10!
Ahead of the forthcoming release of her EP ‘In My Nature’ on November 10, Scottish indie-folk artist Rosie H. Sullivan is set to unveil her final single, ‘Timeless,’ this Friday. Inspired by the enduring beauty of Edinburgh and the enchantment of Scotland’s landscapes, ‘Timeless’ weaves together elements from the islands, highlands, ocean, and skies.
The song encapsulates Rosie’s deep admiration for Scotland, embracing listeners with vulnerable guitar melodies that culminate in an emotionally charged crescendo. A poignant addition to the song is a poignant spoken word segment by the late Scottish kayaking pioneer, Hamish Gow, reflecting on his adventurous youth.
Rosie explains the personal significance behind this inclusion: “In his final years, Hamish Gow, a close friend of my father’s, passed onto us some old cinefilm that showed them kayaking around Scottish islands in the 1960s. Part of this recording now sits nestled within the bridge of ‘Timeless.’ It’s a big moment for me and my family to have Hamish’s voice out there, and never forgotten.”
Accompanying the single is a video featuring Rosie performing amidst the Scottish coastline, the very landscapes that inspired the song’s narrative. Directed to capture vulnerability and singularity, the video incorporates original footage from the Hamish Gow films her father helped restore, paying homage to the explorer’s legacy.
‘Timeless’ is part of the upcoming EP ‘In My Nature,’ a compilation of songs close to Rosie’s heart, echoing her love for Scotland’s highlands and drawing comparisons to the styles of artists like Feist, Phoebe Bridgers, and Boygenius. The EP features previously released singles ‘Fragments,’ ‘Chapters,’ ‘Only a Woman,’ and an unreleased track, ‘Wildflowers and Cobblestones.’
Reflecting on her creative journey, Rosie shares, “It is in my nature to write these words and songs and hold them in my heart, never too far from nature, by a stream, in the woods, by the sea. This is me, and it has been since I came to be and will continue to be for as long as I live.”
Rosie gained recognition in 2021 with her debut single, ‘So It Is,’ captured in a single take in her parents’ garden. Despite being released as a demo, the track garnered over 600,000 streams on Spotify. Her recent sold-out performances and appearances at renowned venues like Glasgow’s King Tut’s and the Celtic Connections festival are indicative of her rising prominence in the music industry.
‘Timeless‘ was released on October 27th, preceding the launch of the ‘In My Nature’ EP on November 10th.
